Where appropriate, written witness statements shall be attached to the report.

During an investigation regarding issues of harassment, intimidation, or bullying based on race, color, or national origin that will be handled under Bylaws & Policies 2260 (Nondiscrimination and Access to Equal Educational Opportunity), if the Building Compliance Officer determines that it is necessary to separate parties or witnesses during the investigation, the Compliance Officer(s) or designee will use a neutral location, other than the Alternative Learning Center, and will explain to the student(s) that the separation is not punitive or disciplinary.

The District shall implement intervention strategies (AG 5517.01) to protect a victim or other person from new or additional harassment, intimidation, or bullying and from retaliation following such a report. The Compliance Officer shall minimize the burden on the Complainant when taking any steps to separate the Complainant and the alleged perpetrator (i.e., Compliance Officer shall not, as a matter of course, remove Complainants from classes or workstations while allowing perpetrators to remain).
